Roberto Clemente was undoubtedly one of the best players the game has seen, opening the doors for fellow latinos to play the game within the league.

But Roberto, most importantly, was a humanitarian; a man who devoted his platform to promoting the accessibility & equality of the latinx community off the field as much as on it.

He sadly passed away in a plane crash on New Year’s Eve 1972, as part of a humanitarian relief effort to deliver supplies to earthquake-affected Nicaragua. He remains one of the most beloved figures in baseball, & an icon on our isla. ⚾️🇵🇷
